FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DUONG CHALLENGES NGUYEN TO THREE DEBATES
“San José District 7 Residents need to know that we have clear differences in how our city and district should be managed.”
San José, CA, 8/15/10 – City Council District 7 runoff candidate, Minh Duong, has challenged opponent, Madison Nguyen, to three(3) debates throughout the campaign in an effort to share with the voters the issues and differences on how to solve them in the district and throughout the city (exact dates and locations to be determined).
Asked why he would rather have debates over candidate’s forums, Duong states, “I want to discuss the issues with my opponent face to face on how to solve them rather than talk in general terms about the issues which happens at candidate forums. The voters need to know that I am serious about bringing respect back to District 7 and helping our city get back on track with the budget challenges.”
The Duong Campaign proposes hosting three community specific debates: one focused to the General community, one focused to the Vietnamese community, and one focused to the Hispanic community. Duong believes this will help address all the issues facing District 7, as well as answering general city questions from the voters.
Details of the debates including format, issues, moderators, dates, and locations will be negotiated between the campaigns at a future date.

Madison Nguyen:
The Minh Duong for City Council 2010 Campaign hereby challenges you to a series of three (3) debates over the remaining campaign period of July – October. Details of the debates including dates, locations, format, and issues may be discussed at a co-campaign meeting in the near future.
I believe it is important for the voters of District 7 to have an opportunity to compare our differences and positions on issues of importance to the district and city as they make a sound choice of who our next council representative should be for District 7. Because you did not achieve re-election in the primary, it is obvious that a significant number of voters would like a chance to hear our plans for District 7 as we all work to build better communities and a future for the City of San José. That is why I am challenging you to a debate instead of the traditional candidates’ forums that have been held in prior campaigns.
It is proposed that we have a Lincoln-Douglas style debate as this is most suitable for a political debate. In addition, I am recommending that we have debates in three differing communities: 1.) The General community, 2.) The Latino community, and 3.) The Vietnamese community.
You may respond to this challenge by either sending me an email at Mduong100@aol.com or by calling me at 408-910-3907.
I look forward to your acceptance and a future meeting to work out the details.
Sincerely,
Minh Duong
Candidate for San José City Council – District 7
